Behavior Clip Chart
We have a rainbow colored chart with clothes pins that move up or down based on our choices. If good choices are made, follow directions, keep hands and feet to self, listening and useing friendly words they can go up to “good job,” “great job,” or the highest “outstanding.” If they reach “outstanding” they will receive a gem to decorate their clothes pin and a happy note to take home. When their clothes pin has 5 gems on it they can take the clothes pin home. Then they will then start over with a new clothes pin. However, if bad choices are made students can move down on the chart. The first move is a warning “slow down.” The next move is “think about it,” where students would miss 5 minutes of their recess to discuss what the problem was. The final level is red or “parent contact.” If this occurs students will miss recess and fill out a behavior form. This form will go home to you and need to be signed. It also may require a phone call home depending on the infraction. On Fridays, you will receive a report with your child’s weekly behavior recorded on it. The only exception would be if you child gets to red, “parent contact,” if which case you would be notified that day. At the end of the day, your child will be paid for good behavior. If they are on green they will get 2 cents, anything above green is 3 cents. There is no payment for bad behavior. To encourage the best behavior at school think about adding your own reward at home if your child comes home with good behavior reports. Keep in mind that it will not be typical for students to reach outstanding on a daily basis.
